The traveller, polar explorer and entrepreneur. The first and only man in the world to reach the Earth’s North and South Poles in a single year without external support: on May 23, 1995, he reached the North Pole along with Wojciech Moskal, while on December 27, 1995, he conquered the South Pole all by himself. He participated in expeditions to Antarctica and Greenland, sailed twice by yacht across the Atlantic Ocean, crossed the Gibson Desert, and in 2004, reached the two poles accompanied by the disabled teenage boy named Jasiek Mela.
He was born on March 24, 1964, in Gdańsk. He studied philosophy and physics at the University of Warsaw and graduated from IESE Business School in Barcelona as a student of AMP (Advanced Management Program).
He is an expert in the field of motivation and leadership, the founder of a training company – the Marek Kamiński Institute, as well as the founder and co-owner of the Iveny SA, a leading company in the heating and sanitary industry. In 1996, he founded the Marek Kamiński Foundation dedicated to the pursuit of large social projects and aimed at selected groups in need, with particular attention to people with disabilities. The foundation organizes the European Camps for the Poles Conquerors for the disabled and needy children as well as those with difficult life circumstances.
He is a prizewinner of numerous awards: for outstanding contributions to the promotion of Poland worldwide; the Explorer 2000; the Super Colossus 2004; at Polish edition of the “World Young Business Achiever”. He also made an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, was decorated the Maltese Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Gold Medal awarded by the Minister of Sport, and the Order of St. Adalbert.
Marek Kaminski is an author of numerous books, including: “My Poles. Journals of Expeditions 1990-199″, “Together to the Poles”, “Touching the World of Marek Kamiński” – an extended interview, and children’s book entitled “Marek – A boy who had a dream”.
At present, Marek Kamiński is developing his authorial “Pole Method”, based on selfdevelopment, that teaches how to achieve any goal. He is planning to bring this program into effect during his trek to Santiago de Compostela in 2015.
